Guidance - General information
These pages provide a quick way into the major guidance areas including access into specialist topic pages that are not listed in the top toolbar.
All the guidance provided on these pages is provided to assist people at the University fulfil their legal requirements and operate in a safe manner. Much of it is produced by the University Safety Office but some documents (normally noted) are not on this site but will take you to another website. The USO is not responsible for any of these documents.
Please tell us if any of these links are broken or if you have other links that you would like to see on these pages.
Circulars are produced on an occasional basis (sometimes several at a time) and are made available on the website. They are to inform people of changes, actions needed, incidents that have happened etc. and are intended as a means of communication. By their very nature they are ephemeral and will not be kept on the site for more than three years (most will disappear long before then). In the past they have been maintained on an almost indefinate basis leading to far to many circulars being on the site for people to find useful. If you want to see old circulars an archive will be established. In the mean time the old website will hold the 'current' circulars to date.
All circulars are initially sent out on the Safety Mail List which is open to staff at the University. The USO is now managing the list so to join the list please send a request to safety-office@ncl.ac.uk requesting that we add you to the list. This was previously open for people to join but because of the nature of some communications on the list it has now again meen taken as a closely managed list.
This is a Word Document version of the generally used Safety Arrangements Poster that Schools are strongly encouraged to complete and display at key points in their buildings. This requires editing before display.

Remember these are links to Governemnt websites so please let us know if the link is broked, as the government websites seem to change very fast.
